Dr. Diana Schwarzbein, a graduate of USC’s School of Medicine, is respected by her peers in the medical field. Especially regarding women’s medical difficulties, her peers value her advice. In her health plan, she institutes a 5-step program for dieters. The first step is Healthy Nutrition. For this stage, she encourages you to eat balanced meals, add healthy fats and carbohydrates to your meals, eat snacks, and drink plenty of water. The second step is Stress Management. In this step, she encourages you to take a break, sleep well, and notice any bodily stress signals. The third step is Tapering off Toxins. Some of these harmful chemicals include nicotine, alcohol, artificial sweeteners, preservatives, caffeine, and prescription drugs. The fourth step is Cross-Training Exercise. In this stage, she advises that you exercise to improve your flexibility, strengthen your muscles, and stimulate your heart. The fifth step is Hormone Replacement Therapy. She advises that you take hormones that are similar to your body’s hormones. Further, she says that you shouldn’t take a hormone that’s already in your body and you should regulate the hormone levels in your body.

According to Dr. Schwarzbein, her 5-step program may be a difficult transition for you. As you seek to balance your metabolism, your body will gradually adapt as it reaches optimal functioning. As your body heals, Schwarzbein says that you will transition from your present state to a healing phase and possibly a fat-burning stage until your body has healed itself. To achieve healing, she advises that you take multivitamins, fatty acid supplements, a B-vitamin complex, calcium, and magnesium.

  • The Schwarzbein Principle claims to be a safe dieting program. This program’s support of healthy eating and physical exercise promotes a lifestyle that can only benefit those who decide to use it.
  • The Schwarzbein Principle was created by a medical doctor. Unlike other diet programs, this one has established its credibility with a founder who has received medical training and researched extensively in the medical field.
  • The Schwarzbein Principle is supported by many medical professionals. Many doctors refer their clients to this dieting program.

  • The Schwarzbein Principle has a strict eating regimen. For those of you who enjoy eating out, you may not be able to do it that much in order to follow this dieting program.
  • The Schwarzbein Principle is unappealing to addicts. If you’re addicted to alcohol or drugs, you must first stop your addiction before you can start this diet.
  • The Schwarzbein Principle has too much medical jargon. In the fifth step, Schwarbein mentions bioidentical hormones, which isn’t a well-known term. In other areas, she uses terms that are unclear to the non-medical student.
  • The Schwarzbein Principle advocates using ineffective supplements. Although supplements purportedly help people, there has been little research that has supported the wholesome benefits of supplements.

Dr. Schwarzbein’s diet program has its benefits. She emphasizes eating nutritional foods, exercising regularly, and eliminating toxins from your body. However, she does advocate using supplements, which have rarely proved to help people with their medical problems. Also, she uses medical jargon, which can easily confuse rather than inform a potential customer.

I am a healthy 85 year old. I do have a little arthritis but still play tennis in national tournaments with others my age. I am slim but used to have some belly fat. I already practiced some of the Schwarzbein principles. I eat a healthy diet. When I heard about and started following completely the principles I was amazed. In a few weeks my belly fat was gone and I tightened my belt. I am now an advocate of the Schwarzbein principle and talk about it to someone every day.
