Liporidex Review - Does This Supplement Work? Are the unadvertised effects a deal breaker?

By Summer Banks on Aug 01, 2016
Liporidex Review

We were excited when we saw that many of the ingredients used in Liporidex are considered effective in facilitating weight loss. We started our research right away and are ready to share with you what we learned.

EDITOR'S TIP:

What You Need to Know

Liporidex is available for approximately $40 per bottle, which contains 36 capsules. According to the directions on the bottle a dose is 1-2 capsules which means this is potentially only enough to last for about two weeks.

The product claims to be both safe and effective. The company claims the product promotes weight loss, elevates alertness, increases mental focus, increases energy, reduces fatigue, and begins working quickly. Additionally, the manufacturer’s website boasts that the new formula specifically does not cause jitters. Happily, many of the ingredients listed are in fact effective in facilitating weight loss, but read on…

Ingredients

1 mg Vitamin B6 and 250 mcg of Vitamin B12 are the only ingredients outside of the proprietary blend. The proprietary blend includes green coffee extract, green tea leaf, caffeine anhydrous, L-Theanine, guarana seed extract, African mango seed, raspberry ketones, quercetin dehydrate, ashwagandha root, L-Trosine, bitter orange extract, bacopa, N-Acetyl L-Carnintine, choline bitartrate, white pepper extract, norcoclaurine.

How good are the ingredients?

Many of the ingredients, such as green tea leaf, have proven weight loss benefits. However, the advertised claim that the product won’t cause jitters seems blatantly false. In addition to the fact that many of the ingredients are stimulants, bitter orange extract is actually a close cousin to ephedra. Ephedra has been banned by the FDA due to the complications and negative side effects experienced by a statistically significantly portion of those who used the product.

According to our research editor, “The biggest concern is with the claim that the supplement doesn’t cause jitters or the associated side effects. This is almost certainly untrue based on the ingredients, which casts doubt on the other claims.”

The Science

The makers of Liporidex do provide a great deal of information about key ingredients that make up the supplement. In fact, extended information is available on the main website about many of the ingredients, and the informative texts are well footnoted. However, the amount of the ingredients that are used in the supplement are not identical to the studies cited. Further, the company offers no clinical studies supporting the efficacy of the supplement in regards to promoting weight loss.

The Bottom Line

We looked at Liporidex because of the inclusion of several proven ingredients. However, the fact that the product makes claims that are so clearly in doubt, is concerning. While many of the ingredients indicate the supplement may have weight loss properties, we are uncomfortable endorsing it.

Complete transparency and honesty is needed when offering consumers a dietary supplement that will be impacting their health. This can come in the form of detailed ingredient lists, clinical studies, and consumer reviews.

One weight loss supplement that does all of this is Leptigen. The makers provide proof of the clinically proven ingredients, which are well known for their weight loss properties. Additionally, even after exhaustive research we were only able to find positive customer reviews.

The makers of Leptigen are fully confident in the effectiveness of their weight loss supplement. New customers are being given a special trial offer, which we find reassuring.

What You Should Know

The official website for Liporidex lists the supplement as safe and effective. Many of the ingredients on the list are safe and some are even proven to increase weight loss, but others are far from safe. With multiple stimulants and a touch of mood boosting chocolate (PEA), Liporidex offers a bigger punch than the description allows.

The official website offers direct ordering, contact information and information on the doctor who created the Liporidex formula. Dr. Emeka Okwuje cured a rare skin disorder with natural anti-oxidants and soon delved into weight loss remedies. He specializes in anesthesiology and has no official training in nutrition or weight loss.

List of Ingredients

CLA, Mucuna Pruriens, Phenylethylamine, Green Tea, Bitter Orange Extract, Cayenne Pepper, Soy Isoflavones, Chromium, L-Dopa and PEA.

Product Features

The ingredient list for any product offers a snapshot of how the body will react. The main ingredient in Liporidex is CLA, or conjugated linoleic acid. CLA was once a popular lean muscle builder that was marketed as having unreal fat loss abilities. When science could not prove this fat loss in humans, CLA lost a bit of ground.

Mucuna Pruriens is a mood altering bean that is commonly sold as an alternative to coffee. Marketed as a sexual aid, we can only guess the improved mood associated with this bean is the reason for adding it. Phenylethylamine is another mood altering ingredient with slightly stimulant properties. Phenylethylamine is included twice on the ingredient list, which is a bit odd. Green tea, the best ingredient in Liporidex, is proven to increase metabolism.

Bitter Orange extract is commonly referred to as Citrus Aurantium or synephrine. This cousin to Ephedra is a strong stimulant that can carry a risk of high blood pressure and increased heart rate. There have been reports of people being hospitalized from taking too much synephrine.

Cayenne pepper is another good ingredient. Several studies have linked cayenne pepper to increased fat burn and metabolism. We also like the fact that Chromium is used in the Liporidex formula. Liporidex sells for $49.99 per bottle.

Advantages

  • Green tea, chromium and cayenne are proven ingredients.
  • The price is comparable to other fat burners.

Disadvantages

  • Bitter Orange Extract can cause unhealthy side effects.
  • PEA, a mood enhancer or psychoactive ingredient, is listed twice.

Conclusion

Liporidex is one of the better supplements we have reviewed in a while. There are several proven ingredients and even some mood boosters to help the dieter feel better about sticking to a weight loss plan. However, mood stabilizers are not safe for everyone. We also dislike the addition of synephrine which can cause jitters and shakes, increased blood pressure and increased heart rate potentially leading to a stimulant crash.
