What You Should Know
Many fat burners and weight loss supplements are marketed at women. Mom’s Little Secret by Applied Nutrition is particularly marketed toward moms. The ingredient list for Mom’s Little Secret is not that different from other fat burners with superfruit added to the mix. There is 135 mg of caffeine. This is slightly higher than the dieter needs to promote metabolism, but this supplement is designed for energy more than weight loss. We found it interesting that the ingredient list shows coffee powder when the product description claims this supplement can be used when coffee isn’t working. If coffee isn’t working, why add coffee to the supplement?
Because of the large amount of caffeine in Mom’s Little Secret, moms should not drink coffee or caffeinated beverages while taking this supplement. The energy boost should start within 15 minutes of taking the supplement. Caffeine takes 12 hours to work its way out of the body, so taking the supplement in late afternoon could interrupt sleep patterns.
Aside from the caffeine and coffee, there is an impressive list of antioxidants. Antioxidants are perfect for moms to take daily as they fight the effects of stress on immunity and organ function. Some studies show antioxidants can reverse the signs of aging caused by free radicals.
- The formula and ingredient list is published on the Applied Nutrition website.
- Will promote energy.
- Contains caffeine – a proven metabolism booster.
- Will fight off free radical damage.
- Contains coffee, but claims that the supplement could replace coffee.
- Contains a lot of caffeine.
- Does not contain an appetite suppressant and stimulants can increase hunger.
- Should not be consumed with caffeinated beverages.
Mom’s Little Secret is not really a secret at all. The formula is nothing more than superfruits and caffeine with coffee thrown in for more stimulation. If mom is used to drinking lots of coffee, the formula may not have much of an effect on energy at all. If mom does not drink coffee, this supplement could have negative side effects, including rapid heart rate and nausea.
