The Body Solid G9 is a home gym sold in the G-Series, considered by fitness experts as the top of the line in fitness equipment. The steel construction and biomechanically engineered design lead us to believe Body Solid is serious about producing high quality products. We found a complete list of technical specifications, list of features and upgrades on the official website.

The price of the Body Solid G9 is $4,300 for the standard unit. Upgrades move the price upwards of $5,000. With a price tag so high and experts considering the Body Solid G9 top of the line, we wanted to find out ourselves if this is actually true.

List of Ingredients

Home gym featuring upper and lower body stations.

Product Features

The Body Solid G9 is a multiple station home gym featuring exercises including, leg press/calf raise, chest developer, fly dec, leg developer, lat pull down and ab crunch. Upgrades available include abductor and adductor station as well as knee raise/dip station. Two weight stacks are standard with the Body Solid G9, each weighing 210 lbs. Through the pulley system, the weight of the leg press increases to 410 lbs.

We found the total weight of the Body Solid G9 extreme. The unit weighs approximately 1,000 lbs. Upon assembly, moving the Body Solid G9 is virtually impossible. Looking the weight of the Body Solid G9 made us take a closer look at the size. The space needed to properly utilize the Body Solid G9 is 12 feet by 12 feet. Unless the user has a storage building or a garage, the Body Solid G9 will not fit into the average-sized room of a house.

We expected the price tag of the Body Solid G9 to be high, considering the features and the construction, but not $4,300. The cost of this home gym will surely deter the average dieter. They will either purchase something of less quality or simply join a health club.

Conclusion

Home gyms such as the Body Solid G9 are impressive. A dieter looking for a health club experience in the comfort of their home will find everything they need in the Body Solid G9. The multiple stations, the exercise guide and the multiple weight stacks are all positives. But what we found was not everything the Body Solid G9 has to offer is a positive. The price, $4,300 is typically out of the range of the average dieter. The weight and size of the Body Solid G9 is extreme. The space needed to use the Body Solid G9 effectively exceeds 12 feet by 12 feet., plus the machine weighs close to 1,000lbs.

Even though the Body Solid G9 provides so much, those three things alone are enough of a deterrent to not warrant a purchase. A dieter looking to add weight training into their healthy living plan should consider options that fit their lifestyle, not a machine that could potentially “scare” them away.
