What You Should Know
Hoodia Chaser is one of hundreds of products trying to cash in on the hoodia craze. Hoodia is a desert plant used by African tribesmen for centuries to curb hunger when on long expeditions. While hoodia has received a ton of press since it has been harvested commercially in the past five years, there are still no credible scientific studies showing the plant’s effectiveness in weight loss. Hoodia Chaser is in liquid form that can be put under the tongue or mixed with water. It claims that it is 90% more effective than the pill form because it enters the bloodstream faster. These claims would be more credible if they were accompanied by a shred of evidence in the form of clinical trials. But that is not the case with Hoodia Chaser.
Hoodia Chaser can be purchased directly from the manufacturer’s website through a “free offer” program. Consumers are not even told what the product costs until they have entered all of their information into an online form. The company will automatically ship the product monthly and auto-bill, a practice used by many shady online weight loss product companies.
List of Ingredients
Hoodia Gordonii, garcinia cambogia extract, green tea extract, plant based digestive enzyme complex containing protease, amylase, cellulase, lipase, inverlase, lactase, maltase, papain, and bromelain. Non-active ingredients: 30% alcohol, glycerin, water, and grape flavor.
The Hoodia Chaser website does not discuss the purpose of any of the other ingredients in the product other than hoodia. Garcinia cambogia is a southeast Asian plant also called tamarind. We were unable to locate any research showing its effectiveness in weight loss efforts. Green tea is an anti-oxidant and its caffeine triggers a slight thermogenic response which may speed up metabolism. Hoodia Chaser does not explain the reasoning behind including the digestive enzymes. There is nothing in the Hoodia Chaser formulation that peaks our interest or shows any true potential to assist with long term weight management. Like many other products, it relies on the “hoodia” name recognition without proving that it stands out amongst its competitors.

There are so many hoodia products on the diet market today and Hoodia Chaser appears to be in the middle of the pack. We do like that the product comes with third party certification that it actually does include hoodia as it is estimated that over half of the “hoodia” products on the market today do not contain this ingredient at all. However, the lack of clinical proof of the effectiveness of hoodia leads us to recommend that consumers look for products that contain known weight management ingredients produced by companies that stand behind their products with a money-back guarantee.
