Rhodiola Rosea comes from the Crassulaceae plant family. It grows in several cold regions around the world. Companies like The Vitamin Shoppe offer a version of this formula for $12.99 (30 veggie capsules). Each capsule contains 500 milligrams of the plant extract.     What herbs would irritate diverticulitis? I take holy basil 300mg per once daily 2 and rhodiola rosea 240mg per 2 twice daily. and Schizandra 580 per 1 twice daily.

    I have some adrenal issues and Rhodiola has been suggested. My problem is nightime; my adrenals are overactive and I’m unable to sleep.Why are there so many conflicting reports on Rhodiola? Help!

    Dear Ruth,
    Rhodiola Rosea can be very potent and works very differently on each individual.
    I sell nutraceuticals, I have Rhodiola Rosea, I have been doing some testing before I decide to market the product. First of all I have tested for purity! To make sure that product is safe and free of any harmful substances.
    So far my studies have shown very different effects from person to person. I personally only need a very small amount to obtain the effects that are most commonly described, such as energy and alertness, memory.
    One of my patients has a very different reaction. She is very alert during the day and has much improved memory. She takes at night, which puts her asleep. I take in the morning, or else I would not sleep!
    I would compare this to a seritonin/dophamine enhancer, such as zoloft, but natural.
    When I say small amount I am talking about 5-10 milligrams per day. I would never need 500mg, at least of the product that I have (sold in the USA) origin of Russia, but full COA by HPLC.
    Rhodiola Rosea can be a great product, but be very careful and treat as a medicine, because it is!
    Always test very small amount first, and as always under licensed Doctor/M.D. or Holistic DR.. There is no FDA suggested amount, and always let doctor know of any OTC or Prescription medicine you are taking, and if preagnant or lactating, etc..
    If I was to market this product I would have to use a blend or sell as loose powder, so person can start out with small amount and find the correct dosage for them! Most are 500mg, I would never give this amount at least of pure Rhodiola Rosea. I have not tried other manufacturers products, but if true Rhodiola Rosea 500mg could be dangerous for some, but good for others! So I would imagine much product sold is diluted or blended with other product, or just not quality product, due to the fact that my research shows very little is sufficient with majority of people?
