Some businesses consider interactions with the community to be an obligation. At Dietspotlight.com, it's what we WANT to do to help people find the support they need to succeed. It's a passion for us.
Dietspotlight.com, which launched in 2008, offers weight loss, dieting, exercise and nutritional information to more than 15 million visitors a year. We feel we have an obligation to visitors to give them an unbiased resource. A place to turn to with questions. A place to share experiences, trials, tribulations, praise and complaints.
But, we’re about more than that. Every member of the Dietspotlight.com team works in communities across the United States, sponsoring free access to nutritional consultations and local events aimed at giving people the information they need to take that first step in a journey to a healthier life.
Our personal connection with the community doesn’t stop there. We also deliver food and meals to the less advantaged in communities, towns, and cities all around us. At the core of our beliefs at Dietspotlight.com is an immense need to make a difference and GIVE BACK.
There’s no doubt that large organizations have a broader reach; affecting more people than we could meet. For that reason, we support some of the best organizations in the United States and the world, including the Obesity Society, the Weight Loss Surgery Foundation of America and A Healthier America.
A Healthier America works with leaders in the private, public and non-profit sectors to solve the blight of childhood obesity once and for all.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, there was an 11% increase in childhood obesity, ages 6-11, between 1980 and 2012 (from 7% to 18%). In the 12-19 year population, that increase climbs to 16% during the same time frame (5% to 21%).
As the percentage of children and teens suffering from obesity rises, so do the risk factors for cardiovascular disease, diabetes, high cholesterol and high blood pressure. A Healthier America is developing solutions to stop the spread of childhood obesity, so these issues are not something future generations have to worry about.
The Weight Loss Surgery Foundation of America is a unique organization providing grants to referred patients who would benefit from weight loss surgery. Patients are referred to the program by a select group of surgeons working within the organization; changes their lives.
According to the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery, weight loss surgery can effectively help with “maintaining long-term weight loss.” It’s not always about diet and exercise. Weight loss isn’t that simple for everyone.
National Fundraisers and Celebrity contributions are the heart of these amazing grants. The organization even offers partial grants to cover insurance co-pays and deductibles, among many other out of pocket expenses.
The Obesity Society believes research and education are at the heart of preventing and treating obesity. Obesity is a health condition that comes with a cause, symptoms, short-term effects and long-term effects. “Advancing science-based understanding of the causes, consequences, prevention and treatment of obesity” is at the heart of the Obesity Society’s mission.
