Diet Pep Review - Does This Weight-Loss Supplement Work? Are a questionable ingredient and user complaints deal breakers?
I paused before I hit the “publish” button on this one, because my conclusion for Diet Pep was a bit of a shocker. We did one of our in-depth reviews, scrutinizing the side effects, ingredients, scientific research and level of customer care. Plus we looked at hundreds of dieter comments and user reviews from all over the web. Lastly, we compressed all of the facts and feedback we found to give you the bottom line.
What is Diet Pep?
Firstly, Diet Pep is a weight-loss supplement that is made by Natural Balance. It is boasted as an energizing formula. This product aims to increase metabolism, fight food cravings and boost energy levels. You simply take one or two tablets with water, twice each day. The ingredients are Calcium (100mg), Potassium (45mg), DynaChrome Chromium (100mcg), Guarana Seed Extract, Green Tea Leaf Extract, Eleuthero Root, Citrus Aurantium, Dandelion Leaf, Ginger Root, Passion Flower, Kelp, Pullulan and Gymnema Sylvestre Leaf Extract.
Diet Pep has been available since at least 2012, and you can purchase this weight-loss formula online. It is clarified that Diet Pep is Ephedra-free, and some customer reviews are posted on the web, but read on…
Questionable Ingredient – “A Consideration?”
The first concern we had with Diet Pep ingredients. According to our Research Editor, “The formula contains Citrus Aurantium, which mimics the effects of Ephedra. It can lead to side effects when combined with stimulants such as caffeine.”
According to WebMD, “When taken with stimulants such as caffeine or caffeine-containing herbs, Citrus Aurantium increases the risk for high blood pressure, fainting, heart attack, stroke, and other severe side effects.”
One user commented, “Diet Pep makes me very jittery and gives me a nauseous feeling.”
User Complaints – “Another Concern”
We discovered some user complaints posted online about Diet Pep side effects. One person stated, “Didn’t feel any different as far as energy level and didn’t help with weight-loss. Sorry, wouldn’t recommend.”
“No weight-loss results at all!,” said another customer.
Our intensive research has shown if there is a particular facet of a diet pill or program that is especially burdensome (questionable ingredients, too many user complaints, high cost) the chances of lasting weight-loss are not good. So, if Diet Pep does in fact cause a high number of user complaints, this could be a deal breaker.
Any Actual Science?
First off, Diet Pep does contain beneficial ingredients such as Green Tea, Chromium and Caffeine to help with weight-loss. However, it would be helpful if the actual amount of each was revealed. Sadly, we could not find any actual clinical studies that specifically support the supplement. We at DietSpotlight like to see some actual research that backs up the product we’re investigating.
The Bottom Line – Does Diet Pep Work?
Now the moment you’ve been waiting for: our bottom line on Diet Pep. Firstly, we like that it contains natural ingredients and it is easy to purchase online via stores like Amazon. But, we have some reservations because it’s not supported by any actual clinical studies. Moreover, we’re concerned about the questionable ingredient used in this product, as well as the negative user reviews posted online.
If you’d like to get rid of more pounds, then we encourage you to select a product with ingredients backed by solid science and is supported by numerous encouraging user reviews.
Among the best products we’ve seen in 2016 is one called Leptigen. Its formula is a unique combination of four ingredients, which have been shown in documented clinical research to help speed up fat loss and boost metabolism. We can’t pinpoint any talk of harmful effects and customer feedback posted online reveals people are seeing solid results.
The makers of Leptigen are so excited about their product they’re offering a Special Trial Offer, which is very reassuring.
Previous Diet Pep Review (Updated August 20, 2008):
What You Should KnowDiet Pep is a weight loss product with a range of ingredients, including herbs and vitamins. The manufacturers of Diet Pep claim that not only will it help you lose weight but this supplement will also increase your energy levels at the same time. There are two versions of the product available, Diet Pep, and Ultra Diet Pep. Both versions are intended to be taken once or twice a day in tablet form.
List of IngredientsThe vitamins in this product consist of Calcium, Potassium and Chromium. The herbs in Diet Pep are Ginger Root, Dandelion Root, Green Tea extract and Gurana.
Product FeaturesCertainly the herbs which are included in Diet Pep are herbs that have been used in ancient forms of medicine such as Traditional Chinese Medicine to help reduce appetite and to increase energy levels for thousands of years. The vitamins in this product are classic vitamins that are included in many weight loss pills, like chromium. Although chromium is known to regulate blood sugar level and thus reduce sugar cravings, there is no data available from well controlled experiments to support the use of Chromium to help weight loss. The inclusion of Green Tea extract in Diet Pep may give you the impression of a light and safe natural ingredient, but in reality Green Tea Extract is in fact Caffeine. In taking Diet Pep you are in fact increasing your intake of Caffeine. The main difference between Diet Pep and the more expensive version of Diet Pep, which is marketed as Ultra Diet Pep, is the addition of the of B6 and B12, which according to the manufacturers will also help you beat stress. The problem with this product is that the number of stimulants will probably make you feel stressed in the first place, especially if you've found that you experience unpleasant sensations after having too much coffee.
- This weight loss product is available from most online health food stores.
- The reasonable price of Diet Pep makes it affordable for most people.
- Prices vary according to the website from which you order Diet Pep, but the average price is $15 for a supply of sixty tablets, and $25 for a supply of sixty tablets of Ultra Diet Pep.
- The lack of an official manufacturers website for this product is not a good sign.
- The enormous number of stimulants in Diet Pep means those potential users of Diet Pep or its more 'powerful' Ultra Diet Pep version should use this product with extreme caution.
- No free trial sample of Diet Pep seems to be available for first-time users.
- Product return policy is unclear.
