Hydroxycut HD Review - Does This High-Definition Supplement Work?
Give me two minutes and I’ll tell you whether Hydroxycut HD works. We focused on the side effects, ingredients and clinical research. Hundreds of user reviews were taken into account and then we refined and summarized to give you the info you need.
What is Hydroxycut HD?
To begin with, Hydroxycut HD is a new dietary supplement promising high-definition weight-loss. The ingredients are robusta coffee extract, caffeine anhydrous, choline bitartrate, l-theanine, Sensoril ashwagandha root and leaf, and medium chain triglycerides. Supposedly, it promotes mental clarity, a boost in energy levels, and weight reduction. You’ll start by taking one capsule, 30-60 minutes before your two largest meals. The second day, you’ll increase to four capsules and on the third day you’ll take six capsules per day.
Hydroxycut HD is brand new for 2017; it is one of several diet supplements available from Muscle Tech. Other supplements included in this product line are Hydroxycut, Hydroxycut Hardcore, Hydroxycut Black and Hydroxycut Gummies. You can purchase it directly from the official website. A complete product ingredient label and user instructions are available, but read on…
Hydroxycut HD Side Effects – “Is It Safe?”
The first issue we have is Hydroxycut HD side effects. According to our Research Editor, “This diet supplement contains 200 milligrams of caffeine per serving. Meaning, you will receive 400 milligrams per day from this weight-loss product. When you factor in other sources of caffeine, such as coffee, tea, chocolate, soda or energy drinks, this may be too much.”
According to the Mayo Clinic, “Too much caffeine can lead to unpleasant side effects such as muscle tremors, insomnia, nervousness, upset stomach, fast heartbeat, irritability, restlessness, and jitteriness.”
“Taking the daily uptake levels of [choline] are likely to cause side effects such as vomiting, diarrhea and body odor,” reported WebMD.
Based on the research from Contemporay Clinical Dentistry, “Currently there are various popular therapeutic antimicrobial products in the market…without the side effects of synthetic medications.”
Minimal Results – “Another Issue”
Another concern is minimal results from Hydroxycut HD ingredients. While there are no customer reviews, we took a closer look at the formula. What caught our attention was the effectiveness of Sensoril.
While there’s no mention of weight-loss, the “potential of l-thanine involves inhibition of detrimental nitric oxide production,” mentioned the Journal of Molecular Nuerobiology.
“More rigorous trials are needed to assess the usefulness of GCE as a weight loss tool,” reported Gastroenterology Research and Practice.
According to the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, “Consumption of MCT oil as part of a weight-loss plan improves weight loss.”
The research we’ve conducted has shown if there’s an individual part of a diet supplement that’s concerning, like not being effective, the odds of long-lasting weight reduction are not very promising. If Hydroxycut HD doesn’t help you lose weight, there’s a concern.
The Science – “Is It Solid?”
At DietSpotlight, clinical research supporting claims is a critical part of the review process. As for Hydroxycut HD, there is a clinical study presented on the official website relating to robusta coffee; the active ingredient in the supplement. The available research is mixed as it relates to dieters losing weight.

Robusta Coffee Extract
Robusta coffee extract (green coffee bean extract), are coffee seeds that have not yet been roasted, which increases the amount of chlorogenic acid found in the fruits. The acid itself is thought to have many health benefits.
What is it Supposed to Do?
Supplements containing Robusta coffee extract claim to help treat obesity, diabetes, high blood pressure, and bacterial infections. Chlorogenic acid found within the beans is thought to influence blood vessel dilation, blood sugar levels, and the metabolism, which may be the reason companies claim it can affect weight-loss.
A study published in Gastroenterology Research and Practice stated, “The evidence from RCTs [randomized clinical trials] seems to indicate that the intake of GCE [green coffee bean extract] can promote weight loss. However, several caveats exist…the clinical relevance of this effect is uncertain” .
Caffeine anhydrous is a concentrated powder version of natural caffeine. It is commonly found in weight-loss supplements, medications, and dietary products. The substance is characterized by its extreme potency and bitter taste.
What is it Supposed to Do?
Due to its high concentration, caffeine anhydrous is thought to have a beneficial effect on energy levels, mental activity, appetite suppression, alertness, body coordination, and cognition. However, consuming too much caffeine may lead to some serious side effects, so it is important to monitor the consumption of any stimulant, especially caffeine anhydrous.
Per research published in A Peer-Reviewed, Open Access Journal, caffeine was, “able to improve exercise performance…when compared to both decaffeinated coffee and placebo” .
Choline bitartrate, also known just as choline, is a chemical made in the liver. Diets consisting of meat, beans, fish, nuts, peas, spinach, wheat germ, and eggs also provide choline. Sports supplements and weight products often contain choline, although it has other uses within the body.
What is it Supposed to Do?
Choline can be found in medications used to treat depression, dementia, seizures, and schizophrenia, just to name a few. It is also used to increase endurance by athletes and prevent neural tube defects in pregnant women. Within the body, scientists believe choline may have a role in decreasing swelling and inflammation.
One study found that choline could rapidly reduce body weight without any side effects. However, the test subjects were only comprised of female taekwondo and judo athletes, so it is uncertain whether these same effects would be seen in obese individuals or men.
L-Theanine is a chemical isolated from Boletus badius and Camellia Sinensis. Another common name for the substance is suntheanine. It has been considered safe for use and has very few potential side effects.
What is it Supposed to Do?
In general, l-theanine is consumed to relieve stress, improve the function of the cardiovascular system, protect the immunity, and potentially play a preventative role in cancer. As a chemical found in green tea, the compound is thought to add a savory flavor to the beverage.
Ashwagandha extract (Withania somnifera herb) is commonly used in Ayurveda medicine. The extract has been proposed to have many natural health benefits.
What is it Supposed to Do?
Ashwagandha extract is used for anxiety, stress, physical performance, memory loss, and immunosuppression.

Hydroxycut HD Side Effects:
In today’s world, weight-loss supplements claiming to be “natural” or “herbal” claim to be safer than others, when this is not the case. There is a potential for issues with any formula, no matter the ingredient list. While the ingredients in Hydroxycut HD have been reported to cause various side effects, some individuals may have different experiences than others.
Headache can be used for any pain felt in the temple. There are many different types one can experience, including cluster, tension, migraine, chronic daily, cough, exercise, sex, and secondary headaches. If the severity continues to increase and the individual starts to develop more severe symptoms; seek medical attention.
What causes headaches?
The chemical activity of the brain, blood vessels, neck muscles, alcohol use, stress, certain foods, changes in sleeping patterns, high blood pressure, and medications are just a few of the causes of headaches.
Vomiting is the action of forcing contents of the stomach up to the esophagus and out through the mouth, either involuntarily or forcibly. Nausea is a good indicator that this symptom is about to develop. It is important to stay hydrated if one is experiencing this issue because an excess of fluids leaving the body may lead to dehydration, which will only worsen the symptoms and may lead to more serious health problems.
What causes vomiting?
Vomiting may be due to health conditions and ailments like food poisoning, psychological illnesses, pregnancy, stress, motion sickness, and overeating.
Gastrointestinal distress is a blanket term for symptoms like heartburn, indigestion, bloating, and constipation. It may cause pain in the abdominal region and lead to irritable bowel syndrome in some cases.
What causes gastrointestinal distress?
Several health conditions can cause gastrointestinal distress, like abdominal pain syndrome, acid reflux, peptic ulcer disease, gallbladder disorders, indigestion, and more. Other, more common reasons for the development of these issues may include psychological responses to food, enzyme deficiencies, exercise, excess carbohydrate consumption, and caffeine, among others.
Diarrhea is a condition in which bowel movements become soft, loose, and occur more frequently. This symptom usually lasts around one or two days, unless there is a more serious underlying health concern. Chronic diarrhea can last up to four weeks, in which case medical attention is necessary. Otherwise, it is considered non-harmful and affects, on average, everyone at least once a year. It is common to see children suffer from these issues about twice a year. Diarrhea is also commonly associated with cramps, abdominal pain, loss of bowel control, and an increased urgency to use the restroom .
What causes diarrhea?
Common causes of diarrhea include bacteria, primarily after the consumption of contaminated water or food, viruses, antibiotics, cancer drugs, antacids, food intolerances or sensitivities, gastrointestinal diseases, and irritable bowel syndrome. Stress can also play a role in causing this symptom.
Hydroxycut HD side effects don’t always occur, but there have been reports of headaches, vomiting, gastrointestinal distress, and diarrhea, along with some others. It’s always a safe practice to consult a physician before taking a supplement to avoid any unexpected issues, especially if you are already taking medications, are under 18, are pregnant or nursing, or have a pre-existing medical condition.
Hydroxycut HD Scientific Abstracts:
Robusta Coffee Extract
Six-week old mice were subjects of a study testing the effects of green coffee bean extract on mild obesity, specifically noting the decreases in fat mass and body weight due to its high concentration of chlorogenic acid. The animals were fed a standardized diet supplemented with .5 or 1% green coffee bean extract, .05 or .01% caffeine, and .15 or .3% of chlorogenic acid for two weeks and were measured for any physiological changes every two days. After the testing period, researchers measured the mice to determine any changes due to the supplementation of the extract in their diet and found the compound to have a suppressive effect on the increase of fat, but none of the body weight in general. .
2,129 random human test subjects and 494 weight-loss maintainers were tested in terms of the effects of daily coffee and caffeinated beverage consumption. The researchers found that an increase in caffeine consumption directly correlates to weight-loss maintenance. This conclusion was derived from data showing more individuals from the weight loss maintainers group consumed coffee or caffeinated beverages than those in the general population subject group. Researchers noted that, although the sample size was large, the mechanisms in which the caffeine induced weight-loss maintenance effects are unknown.
Four milligrams of l-theanine per kilogram of body weight was administered to normal mice through their drinking water for two weeks in order test its effects on glutathione within the striatum and midbrain. While scientists found the chemical did increase glutathione in the striatum, they noted it did not have one on body weight or water intake.
57 men ages between 18 and 50 years with little experience in resistance training were randomly selected to consume either an ashwagandha extract supplement or a placebo. The treatment groups received 300 milligrams of the herb twice daily for eight weeks. They were measured not only for muscle strength, but also muscle size, testosterone levels, body composition, and recovery times. Compared to the placebo, subjects receiving ashwagandha were found to have 3.3 cm2 more arm muscle size and 1.9 cm more chest size. Subjects using the treatment also experienced less exercise-induced muscle damage, increased testosterone levels, and decreased fat percentage in the body. They concluded that the supplementation of ashwagandha may be useful for individuals performing resistance training. However, they added that a sample size of 50 individuals may not be enough to receive profound results. Additionally, they mentioned the need of studies using ashwagandha extract for longer periods of times and for a more diverse population.
