How Did Flat Tummy Tea Start?

While various natural herbal teas – such as peppermint tea, lemon tea, and ginger tea – can help in flattening your stomach by enhancing your stomach’s digestion & bloating reduction, FlatTummy.Co has developed this product as a mix of several of these classical natural herbal teas to help you get there.

To accompany this product, FlatTummy.Co also has a product known as Flat Tummy Shake It Baby, which was recommended to go along with the tea packets, working as meal replacement shakes.

These shakes meanwhile is based on the Super Citrimax formula for weight loss & appetite control, featuring up to 50 types of fruits and vegetables and 20 grams of plant proteins among other nutrition.

Similarly, this product is also not FDA-approved and should be taken with caution and at your own risks. [1]

Flat Tummy Tea Claims

Supposedly, the ingredients in this herbal detox tea were traditionally used to help you get rid of bloating and gives you an energy boost and users can start feeling the difference after the first few days of trying this product.

It also suggests that the Maintain Tea will allow for the resulting flat stomach to be maintained until the users are ready for their next four-week to cleanse package all over again.

It also claims to have a very gentle cleansing effect which is part of the intended detoxification process to help users get rid of bloating and bodily waste.

Some of the ingredients in these herbal tea packets have been known to garner benefits to the body.

As an example, peppermint enhances the digestion process, as does the hibiscus flower which can help to relax the smooth muscle of the intestines. [2] [3]

Flat Tummy Tea Ingredients

The Activate Tea ingredients include:

The Maintain Tea ingredients include:

  • Senna leaf
  • Cassia Chamaecrista pods
  • Hibiscus flower
  • Lemongrass Leaf
  • Coriander Seed
  • Caraway Seed

The Cleanse Tea ingredients include:

  • Rhubarb Root
  • Dandelion root
  • Liquorice root
  • Senna leaf
  • Peppermint leaf
  • Cassia Chamaecrista pods

Does Flat Tummy Tea Work?

While there are plenty of good reviews on their official website and you can possibly see some celebrities endorsing this product, the flat tummy tea generally does not work in the ways that you think it does.

This tea uses senna leaf and has a small concentration of caffeine in it, both of which can lead to the loss of water weight more than anything else.

In addition, while dandelion supposedly helps to cut down on fats absorption and break down the absorbed ones, there were suggestions that dandelions can also act as a diuretic and laxative.

Cleavers’ leaf is also present in the Activate tea, which increases the urine flow to avoid fluid retention. An intake of this herb would appear to help with bloating issues when it only gets rid of fluids and bodily waste.

To simply put it, this product can help you to get rid of some weight, leveraging on lost water weights using diuretics and laxatives, but this effect is not long-lasting and not to be treated as the same as losing body fats in a safe, effective and healthy manner.

Our body does not need the flat tummy tea detox, to begin with without any special diets, since it can remove toxins on its own. [4]

Flat Tummy Tea Benefits and Results

Some of the ingredients have had a small amount of clinical support to back up its efficacy to help users cut down some weight. As an example, peppermint has been suggested to improve one’s exercising performance, helping you to burn more calories as you work out.

Lemon balm meanwhile has been known to aid in body weight regulation and metabolizing any digested lipids.

These small details, in particular, allow for the flat tummy tea users to experience heightened metabolism that makes physical workouts more effective than without, although it is not necessary to achieve the same results through this tea alone.

Moreover, most of the products are very understudied about their effects towards weight loss and still requires further studies and clinical trials for a stronger testimony of this product.

It is suggested that this product works based on the diet plans provided on their official website, and the product itself would work as an appetite suppressant while boosting your metabolism.

It does not block carbohydrates and nor does it burn fats, which is something that several other flat tummy products focus on. It is most likely that the flat tummy tea only aids in part due to some of these active ingredients.

Overall, this product can address 3 out of 5 of the most common pathways for weight loss programs, which is a decent number for a detoxifying tea product.

The herbal concoction gives a very naturally sweet taste, not unlike the flavor of green tea. It is also alright if you prefer to add a lemon slice or some honey if you like the additional flavor.

The company was thoughtful with their offered packages, which can suit both new users and returning users.

Using mostly natural ingredients, there shouldn’t be too many issues for drinking it as compared to using some other products.

Details on Flat Tummy Tea and Weight Loss

While being advertised to lessen bloating, and helping everyone to lose weight with their detox tea regime, this flat tummy tea does not work as well as advertised and does not have much, if any, proof of efficacy. As mentioned above, the flat tummy tea works only on reducing your water weight in the short term.

It is not an effective product that can help you in the long run, but you can get the desired results with some other natural herbal teas while maintaining a healthy lifestyle – a decent amount of exercise, food & diet control, the whole package.

Natural herbal teas work simply because they contain only about 2 calories per cup and helping you to decrease consumption of sugary beverages which are also high in calories.

It is better not to rely on this flat tummy tea alone for weight loss. Most of the traditional herbal tea, do, however, work to some extent since the effects of the herbs can still be used in modern medication and treatment. [5]

How to Use Flat Tummy Tea

There are two stages for the flat tummy to work. In the first stage, which is the activate stage, the tea sachet helps to prep your digestive system to absorb more nutrients and increase your metabolism so that your digestion process can be completed faster. In the second stage, which is the cleansing stage, the tea sachet is supposed to help you detoxify your digestive tracts from toxins built up during the day and reduce your water weights to help you reduce your bloating as well.

For the Activate Packet, you will need about 8oz of hot water (about 240 mL) in a cup and you only need 1 teaspoon of the Activate tea packet mix in a tea strainer. You can remove the strainer and drink the tea mix after an infusion period of about 5 – 7 minutes.

As for the Cleanse packet, the instructions are not too different from that of the activated packet. You only need to infuse the leaves between 3 –  5 minutes, however, and there were also instructions to drink this mix every other night in your first week and drink it only once every 3 days once you are into your second week of using this.

For best results, it is best for users to drink this along with a low-carb low-fat diet while carrying out regular physical activities to ensure that the weight loss is also working for the long-term instead of just by reducing the water mass in most individuals.

Users finding that the tea tastes too weak or strong can still manipulate the steeping time for their tea, infusing it for several minutes more or less depending on the results that you want to be achieved.

Potential Flat Tummy Tea Side Effects

The official website itself has warned about feeling dehydrated after drinking this product and has advised users to drink more water to replace the amount of water lost throughout the usage of the Flat Tummy Tea.

One of the Flat Tummy Tea ingredients highlighted in the Cleanse & Maintain packet, senna leaf, is known to be a stimulant laxative, which is usually taken to do a thorough cleansing of the intestines before a bowel surgery.

This ingredient being marketed in the Flat Tummy Tea would seem as if the laxative properties are helping you to obtain a flat tummy. As such, if you have drunk from this sachet, you can expect frequent toilet trips.

Flat Tummy Tea Product Warnings

This product has not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and thus should be taken with caution. The official website has also informed the users that this product is not meant to diagnose, treat or prevent any diseases.

This product could affect contraceptive pill users sue to the detoxifying nature, although the website does not have any backup information regarding this claim yet. It is also not recommended for pregnant or breastfeeding users even though the product is 100% natural.

Most online reviews have also indicated that the product simply does not work and will result in frequent toilet trips without losing any efficient mass.

Last but not least, this product is also intended for users above the age of 18 only and so underage users should consult their parents before purchasing this product.

Any Flat Tummy Tea Lawsuits?

There are no lawsuits against Flat Tummy Tea.

Flat Tummy Tea Alternatives

Below are some of the top FDA-approved weight loss supplements and drugs that you can use instead of Flat Tummy Tea, all of which requires being matched up with regular physical activities and a controlled diet to make the treatments effective.

Like many other weight loss products, the drugs, on their own, will not be able to help the user to achieve an effective weight loss.

Orlistat

A good alternative to this tea will be a prescription medicine which is approved by the FDA, which can be used for kids as young as 12 years old.

How Does It Work?

Rather than enhancing your weight loss progress, orlistat is a prescription medicine used for obesity management. [6]

Is it Effective?

This treatment is only effective if ingested along with some degree of caloric restriction, more physical exercises and improved behavioral modifications to help the user lose weight healthily.

Side Effects

About 1 to 10% of the drug users experience some degree of oily spotting, and there are also cases of nausea, oily stool, fecal incontinence, liver failure or on a more serious note, can also lead to leukocytoclastic vasculitis.

Contrave (bupropion & naltrexone)

Another FDA-approved drug, this one has minor side effects and is intended for users above the age of 18 and are obese with a BMI or at least 27 with another weight-related health condition or if the user is obese. [7]

How Does It Work?

Contrave works by decreasing the user’s appetite as well as increasing the feeling of fullness. Like Orlistat, Contrave requires a good exercise program and a proper low-calorie diet for it to work properly.

Is It Effective?

It is effective if this medication is taken regularly and users should lose some weight within 4 weeks of using this medication.

Side Effects

Users have reported trouble sleeping, and there some light side effects such as nausea, vomiting or a headache. NO serious side effects are reported, but if users experience any such as widened pupils and eye pain, it should be reported immediately

Alli

Basically Orlistat in a reduced-strength form, this drug is available for the public without needing prescriptions – 60 mg as opposed to Orlistat’s 120 mg dose.

How Does It Work?

With regular physical activities, low-fat and low-calorie diet, this product decreases the amount of fat absorption by inhibiting the activities of lipase, the enzyme that breaks down fats in our body. When taken with a meal, up to 30% of the drugs are not broken down during digestion and so are passed out through bowel movements instead of being absorbed into the body.

Is It Effective?

Alli works enough to help you lose a modest amount of weight. When comparing the results of weight loss in users who took this drug, and a diet and exercised, the users who had a calorie-restricted diet and exercise regularly only without the drug lost about 5.5 pounds (2.5kg) less than the users who took the drug as well. [8]

Side Effects

While there aren’t many cases of serious liver injuries, the user should report to the doctor immediately if there are any signs of light-colored stool, brown urine along with yellow eyes or skin.

The Bottom Line – Does Flat Tummy Tea Work?

Are we brewing up a cup right now? Well, we like the addition of green tea, but that’s not enough to curb our hesitations. We are uncomfortable giving this one our recommendation because using laxatives and diuretics for weight-loss can lead to nasty side effects, based on customer reviews and scientific research.

If you’d like to drop some pounds, we recommend selecting a supplement that is supported by published clinical research, with safe ingredients that don’t cause harsh side effects.

Among the best products we’ve seen this year is one called Burn HD. The four ingredients have been clinically tested and shown to help boost metabolism and increase fat loss. There are no reports of negative side effects and users across the web report amazing results.

Plus, the company that makes Burn HD is quite confident in the formula, so they’re offering customers a 2-Week Sample.

We dug deep into the Flat Tummy Tea ingredients to give you all of the important facts.

Taraxacum Leaf and Root

Commonly known as dandelion plant, taraxacum leaf and root are used in a number of internal cleansing supplements and herbal tea products. This herb is also found in some traditional medicines to treat upset stomach and gas.

What is it Supposed to Do?

Taraxacum is often used in cleansing and weight-loss products to increase urination. This plant contains some chemicals that boost urine production. This in turn may help with flushing out the kidneys and reducing excess water weight.

Clinical Research

There does not appear to be a solid link between taraxacum and fat loss. A study published in the Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine showed that “For the entire population (n = 17) there was a significant (p < 0.05) increase in the frequency of urination in the 5-hour period after the first dose.” [1] But, since this herb is a diuretic, it can lead to dehydration.

Senna Leaf and Pods

Senna is an herb that has been used for many years to treat constipation. Both the fruit and leaves of this plant are used to make some traditional medicine. Like many herbs, this ingredient is found in a number of diet pills and weight-loss teas.

What is it Supposed to Do?

The key component found in senna leaves and pods is sennosides. These chemicals basically irritate the lining of the intestines. This in turn causes a laxative effect. Therefore, this herb may help with internal cleansing, regularity and even reduce bloating.

Clinical Research

According to WebMD, “Taking senna by mouth is effective for short-term treatment of constipation. Senna is an FDA-approved nonprescription drug for adults and children ages 2 years and older.” However, this herb has not been proven to aid with weight-loss.

Galium Aparine

Sometimes referred to as cleavers, scarthgrass or bedstraw, galium aparine is an herb that contains chemicals called tannins. It has been used for centuries to treat conditions such as painful urination and fluid retention.

What is it Supposed to Do?

Some herbal cleansing teas and weight-loss supplements contain galium aparine to help promote urine flow and reduce retained water weight. It may also help with irritable bowel syndrome and flushing out the lymphatic system.

Clinical Research

Unfortunately we did not find a correlation between galium aparine and weight reduction. However, Cleavers have been “used to relieve edema and to promote urine formation during bladder infections,” according to the University of Michigan. [2]

There are several ingredients out there with clinical backing. The trouble is many companies fail to put more than one in a supplement at a time. Dietspotlight Burn offers four in one formula.

Flat Tummy Tea Scientific Abstracts

Peppermint Leaf

Essential oils of the peppermint leaf are used in traditional medicines. The phenolic properties of the leaves include several flavanoids, luteolin, hesperidin, primarily eriocitrin, and rosmarinic acid. Peppermint has shown significant antimicrobial and antiviral properties in vitro, as well as high antitumor and antioxidant actions. There are an array of trials reported which examine the effects of peppermint oil on IBS (irritable bowel syndrome). At the same time, there are few human studies of peppermint leaf and no clinical trials. [1]

Fennel Seed

Analysis of data shows the efficacy of fennel in multiple in vitro and in vivo pharmacological properties such as antiviral, antimicrobial, antimutagenic, anti-inflammatory, antipyretic, cardiovascular, apoptotic, antispasmodic, antinociceptive, antithrombotic, chemo modulatory, antitumor, hepatoprotective, hypolipidemic, hypoglycemic, and memory enhancing properties. Foeniculum vulgare (fennel) has risen in notoriety as a good source of traditional medicine as well as delivering a noteworthy basis in pharmaceutical biology for the creation of new drugs and use in future clinical trials. [2]

Coriander Seed

Coriander possesses an essential oil (0.03-2.6%). It’s used as a spasmolytic, stomachic, and carminative which have higher bioactive properties. Various sections of the plant (seeds, leaves, flowers, and fruit) showcase antioxidant activity as well as anticonvulsant, sedative-hypnotic, diuretic, anti-diabetic, anti-mutagenic, anti-microbial, and anthelmintic activities. Coriander is rich in antioxidants and could have the ability to delay the onset of a variety of age-related diseases. It is concluded that urgency be shown in an effort to explore the roles of these compounds.[3]

Dandelion Root

Studies have shown T. Officinale(dandelion) to increase urinary frequency. For all the participants involved (n = 17) there was a substantial increase (p < 0.05) in the frequency of urination for 5 hours following the first dose. There was also a significant increase (p < 0.001) in the excretion ratio within the period of 5 hours following the second dose. In conclusion, based on the data compiled from the human trials, ethanolic dandelion extracts show extreme promise as a diuretic in humans. [4]

Caraway Seed

Results suggest that cold-pressed black caraway may serve as a dietary source of antioxidant for the promotional of health and prevention of disease. Cold-pressed black caraway seed oil may be used in foods as a natural antioxidant, to improve quality. [5]

Lemon Grass

Lemon Grass essential oil (LGEO) showed promising antifungal effects against C. tropicalis, Candida albicans, and Aspergillus niger with different IZDs (inhibition zone diameters) (35–90 mm). For evaluating the anti-inflammatory effects, lemon grass essential oil (10 mg/kg, administered orally) significantly reduced carrageenan-induced paw edema with similar results to that reported for oral diclofenac (50 mg/kg). In conclusion, it has been indicated that lemon grass essential oils have a stunning potential for the development of drugs for fungal infection treatment and skin inflammation. [6]

Leshia – the bloating and gas were likely due to the laxatives in the tea. If it was uncomfortable and stopping helped, that was the perfect choice.

Just because you see these celeb’s out there saying how good this product is and they use it just remember they are getting paid to say that. I tried this product and it constipated me and gave me the worse cramps and bloating. Thought it was suppose to do the opposite. I stopped using it after a week and I was back to normal. And they want give you your money back. Horrible product and horrible customer service. Think twice before you order.

Just started it yesterday and I can say it was alright. Yes it gives you almost contraction pains and sends you to the bathroom. But I was expecting this as it is cleaning out my insides. Good in taste as well. This tea reminds me of a cheaper supermarket tea called ” Te Manasul.”

After 1 day I have really bad body aches and I am so tired I dont have the energy to workout. Day 2 same result. I slept for 10hours and still took a 1.5 hour nap today. I can admit I’m not drinking as many liquids as I need to. Maybe I will try that.

I have been taking FTT for over 1 month now and have just ordered my 2nd 4 week pack. I have had reasonable results but mostly seen a massive change in my skin. Much clearer and smoother. I do got to the bathroom a couple of times in the morning and I am definitely more regular but no bad side effects at al. Occasionally I am a little dehydrated but I do try to drink at least 2.5 litres of water to elejminate that. Overall I am happy with this tea and will continue with the FTT Next which is the product you purchase for the 2nd and ongoing months.

First day of use and felt very dizzy, had cold chills and my body temperature was extremely HOT!! Not yo mention the sleepiness that I couldn’t shake. The tea was the only new thing that I’ve tried so it has to be what’s causing my symptoms.

Hey Andy. We’ve always wondered why some people gain weight when taking products like Flat Tummy Tea.

Are you eating the same? What did you change when you started drinking the tea? We’d love to know more.

It didn’t work for me at all. It ended up making me more bloated some days. I just felt really bad for the entire time I was on it and I really don’t think it did any good.

I started using the tea and 2 days in I started having heart burn and acid reflux. I was saying to myself what have I been eating lately, but then I realized I have been eating the same things and my body started to react differently once I started drinking the tea. I had gas stuck in my esophagus and it wasn’t coming out. It was quite painful. I stopped taking the tea and my body went back to normal a day later. I will no longer drink this tea!!!

Headaches are from dehydration. Do not drink this if you have IBS………tend to have bouts with stress diarrea or had chemo therapy. Former chemo patients are prone to dehydration anyway. This is a liquid laxative…..nothing else.

      Hi there…

I’m in no way putting the product on a pedestal but maybe the bloating, headaches and constipation are due to the system trying to detox all the junk one has been eating. Give it some time and see the results.

I think it’s boogus just as stated above the ingredients can be found in a cheaper tea called smooth move for $5. Also senna causes cramping its horrible and nausea etc this is a reaction that is true from this tea.

Other teas are out there with similar ingredients at a smaller price. What we worry about is that teas are a short-term solution. That’s why we tend to lean toward products like Dietspotlight Burn with clinically tested ingredients.

What a waste of money the amount you receive is absurd even if you purchase the larger portion then they don’t even put product in tea bags therefore if you don’t own a tea diffuser you have to purchase one the whole process is a time consuming headache the flavor is bland & if you let it steep longer it gets cold now for the results WHAT RESULTS?! Also a headache is acquired from the ingredients along with vomiting after a couple of cups all in all I was duped & I feel robbed
