Why are people talking about Flat Tummy Tea? We decided to find out so we dug through the ingredients, side effects, and clinical research. We also read hundreds of experiences to learn how it works in real life. Then, we narrowed and summarized to give you the bottom line.

Flat Tummy Tea Readers: Click here to find out why we're giving away samples of our product, Leptigen.

What is Flat Tummy Tea?

Firstly, Flat Tummy Tea is a drink kit, designed for detoxification, consisting of Activate and Cleanse. The ingredients are senna, taraxacum, [1] galium aparine, camellia sinensis, cardamom, glycyrrhiza glabra, mentha × piperita, carum carvi, melissa officinalis, foeniculum vulgare, senna, glycyrrhiza glabra and rheum rhabarbarum. You’ll drink one glass in the morning and another in the evening. Supposedly, it’ll increase energy expenditure so the body uses more calories, thus reducing weight. Claims also say it can reduce bloating. [2]

Synergy CHC is the company behind Flat Tummy Tea. The brand was first introduced in 2013. You can buy a two or four-week pack directly from the official website. We like that it contains a few natural ingredients and that it seems affordable, but read on…

Side Effects – “A Potential Issue?”

The first issue we found with Flat Tummy Tea ingredients was the potential for side effects. Some of these reports may deal with the interaction of the natural diuretic dandelion and other supplements or prescription medications. “Unfortunately, products like this are all too often associated with adverse reactions,” says our Research Editor. [3],

One stated, “This one left me constipated. I thought it was supposed to help with that.”

“This tea is terrible, I tried it, and it’s tastes terrible and all it does is give you gas and make you go to the bathroom,” said another.

Not all customers experienced negative side effects. “Helped with bloating. Exercising keeps the weight off and eating healthy,” stated a user.

“Started on my day off just in case we had a bathroom issue. No bathroom issues with tummy tea,” commented another.

Lack of Results With Flat Tummy Tea – “Concerning?”

Based on customer reviews, Flat Tummy Tea results are not exactly what the consumer expected. “Reduced the bloat, but didn’t lose any weight,” commented a customer.

“Those posts online aren’t real. I didn’t lose weight like they did,” commented a customer who saw no Flat Tummy Tea results. [4]

Although there aren’t a lot of Flat Tummy Tea reviews posted, we did locate some customers that have tried the product and saw results. [5]

“Girls do see weight loss results if they pair our tea with a healthy diet and some exercise,” commented a customer.

Through years of research, we’ve found a connection between what seems small, like missing reviews, and a lesser chance of long-term success. If Flat Tummy Tea is not honest about results and experiences, why would the consumer trust the company or the product?

The Science – “Clinical Evidence?”

The science side of Flat Tummy Tea is easy. Green tea extract is proven to help with weight-loss, [6] but you can buy that for less than $5 in your local vitamin shop. Other ingredients in the formula are geared toward reducing water [7] and increasing bowel movements. These are not effective means of helping you lose. According to the Journal of American College Health, “Serious medical problems that may occur with laxative abuse include electrolyte and fluid imbalance, structural and functional colonic changes, and allergic reactions.”

The Bottom Line – Does Flat Tummy Tea Work?

Are we brewing up a cup right now? Well, we like the addition of green tea, but that’s not enough to curb our hesitations. We are uncomfortable giving this one our recommendation because there’s no proof it works better than supplements that contain clinically proven ingredients. Plus, using laxatives and diuretics for weight-loss can lead to side effects, based on customer reviews and some scientific research.

If you want to lose weight the natural, safe way, we suggest going with a supplement that’s made with clinically tested ingredients that don’t cause potentially harmful side effects.

Among the best products we’ve seen this year is our product called Leptigen. This one contains four ingredients. All clinically-tested with results often found in publications such as the Journal of Medicine and the journal Obesity.

Plus, we’re so confident that you’ll love our supplement that we’re offering a Special Trial Offer, which is a good sign.

We dug deep into the Flat Tummy Tea ingredients to give you all of the important facts.

Taraxacum Leaf and Root

Commonly known as dandelion plant, taraxacum leaf and root are used in a number of internal cleansing supplements and herbal tea products. This herb is also found in some traditional medicines to treat upset stomach and gas.

What is it Supposed to Do?

Taraxacum is often used in cleansing and weight-loss products to increase urination. This plant contains some chemicals that boost urine production. This in turn may help with flushing out the kidneys and reducing excess water weight.

Clinical Research

There does not appear to be a solid link between taraxacum and fat loss. A study published in the Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine showed that “For the entire population (n = 17) there was a significant (p < 0.05) increase in the frequency of urination in the 5-hour period after the first dose.” [1] But, since this herb is a diuretic, it can lead to dehydration.

Senna Leaf and Pods

Senna is an herb that has been used for many years to treat constipation. Both the fruit and leaves of this plant are used to make some traditional medicine. Like many herbs, this ingredient is found in a number of diet pills and weight-loss teas.

What is it Supposed to Do?

The key component found in senna leaves and pods is sennosides. These chemicals basically irritate the lining of the intestines. This in turn causes a laxative effect. Therefore, this herb may help with internal cleansing, regularity and even reduce bloating.

Clinical Research

According to WebMD, “Taking senna by mouth is effective for short-term treatment of constipation. Senna is an FDA-approved nonprescription drug for adults and children ages 2 years and older.” However, this herb has not been proven to aid with weight-loss.

Galium Aparine

Sometimes referred to as cleavers, scarthgrass or bedstraw, galium aparine is an herb that contains chemicals called tannins. It has been used for centuries to treat conditions such as painful urination and fluid retention.

What is it Supposed to Do?

Some herbal cleansing teas and weight-loss supplements contain galium aparine to help promote urine flow and reduce retained water weight. It may also help with irritable bowel syndrome and flushing out the lymphatic system.

Clinical Research

Unfortunately we did not find a correlation between galium aparine and weight reduction. However, Cleavers have been “used to relieve edema and to promote urine formation during bladder infections,” according to the University of Michigan. [2]

There are several ingredients out there with clinical backing. The trouble is many companies fail to put more than one in a supplement at a time. Leptigen offers four in one formula.

I started flat tummy tea last week, and I followdled all the instruction but instruction keep getting severe nausea and dry heaves. Almost puking, this has happened twice now. None else have that?

Hi. Please make sure to consult with your physician before continuing to take this product and let them know about the side effects you were experiencing.

Irma Ramos

Hello.. my husband yesterday he drink a cup of evening tea.. today he feels [bad]. he takes every morning a blood pleasure pill. No I’m so worry if he stomach ache is related form the tea.?

Hi. Please make sure he consults with his physician before continuing to take this product and let them know about the side effects he were experiencing.

Jay

I do 50 sit ups everyday but my tummy still looks bloated. So i was really excited to try this product. It’s my third day and so far all it does is give me excess gas and make me pee every 15 minutes. well, atleast I see a slight decrease in my stomach. But I’m not sure which is better; having a sightly flatter tummy with a farty pants or a bloated stomach. hmm…

Kristen Cooley

Flat tummy tea made me constipated for over 5 days! It has been a month since I tried it and my bowl movements have been terrible since wasting money on this product!

Vicky

I’m currently in he’d with a piercing headache and very loose stools. I haven’t been able to keep anything in my body besides (barely) water. I’ve been drinking flat tummy tea for almost a week now and at first it was okay but now I feel like crap and there’s no other explanation for this. I feel like I’m about to implode and I just want the pain to end!!!

Marie

Can 18 year olds do it?

Hi Marie. Most supplements are suggested for 18 and older. With that said, we think it is the best idea to research a product completely and consult your doctor if you have questions before trying it out.

Joe

The flat tummy tea give me a sore throat for days.

Molly

i tried seeing if I could return this product because I literally drank the tea early in the morning and then went to the gym a couple hours later and was on the toilet for a good 15 minutes *before my workout and then 15 minutes *after my workout. My stomach was hurting so bad and I was having abdominal pain. They wouldn’t let me return it due to how I had already opened it and used it *once. how the heck are you supposed to know ahead of time how you’re going to react to this product and then spend 50 dollars on something that just makes you in pain

Phil

Wanted to know if this product is also for men and if not do you have one that is?

Hi Phil. Flat Tummy Tea is for both men and women.

Ati

Hi
I’m already the skinny type… so i am not into losing more weight… i just want a flat tommy… anybody know if it will work for me

Hi Ati. There are no weight loss supplements or teas on the market that can spot reduce.

Breannica

I tried this tea for the first time yesterday on my birthday and I already see the problem. I still have my wisdom teeth in and it irritated and swollen up my left side of my face. Very upset about that, I took NyQuil to clear it up but the tea also makes you gassy and sleepy.

Ieshia mahmud

I did feel an increase in my energy, but the tea started making me more bloated and gassy than normal so I stopped and it appears my body is retuning to normal. I will just start drinking green tea and plenty of water

Sara

Just because you see these celeb’s out there saying how good this product is and they use it just remember they are getting paid to say that. I tried this product and it constipated me and gave me the worse cramps and bloating. Thought it was suppose to do the opposite. I stopped using it after a week and I was back to normal. And they want give you your money back. Horrible product and horrible customer service. Think twice before you order.

Belinda

worried. My Thyroid was removed. since taking the tea my eyes seem to be popping. Thinking taking the tea with thyroiid supplements may not be a good thing. If possible, please give advice.

Hi! Because of possible interactions with your thyroid, please make sure to consult with your physician before continuing to take this product.

J

Just started it yesterday and I can say it was alright. Yes it gives you almost contraction pains and sends you to the bathroom. But I was expecting this as it is cleaning out my insides. Good in taste as well. This tea reminds me of a cheaper supermarket tea called ” Te Manasul.”

Lydia

After 1 day I have really bad body aches and I am so tired I dont have the energy to workout. Day 2 same result. I slept for 10hours and still took a 1.5 hour nap today. I can admit I’m not drinking as many liquids as I need to. Maybe I will try that.
