The results of my research into Nutrition53 were somewhat surprising. We decided to take a closer look at the performance line’s side effects, ingredients, and clinical studies. We examined hundreds of dieter responses and comments. Then, we condensed and summarized to give you the info you need.

What is Nutrition53?

Firstly, Nutrition53 is a performance supplement line. Some ingredients include whey protein isolate, L-leucine, micellar casein, L-glutamine, milk protein isolate, pea protein isolate, green coffee bean extract and various vitamins and minerals, among others. The company promotes weight-loss by offering solutions, including, Burn1 Fat Burning Formula, Sleep1 The Ultimate Sleep Formula, Neuro1 Brain Performance Drink, Lean1 Pro Fat Burning Protein Shake and Gainer1 Muscle Building Protein Shake.

Nutrition53, founded by former professional football player Bill Romanowski in 2007, sells the entire line on the official website. Trusted retailers also sell the supplements, We like that we found some positive comments and the trusted name, but read on…

Price of Nutrition53 Products – “Expensive?”

The first concern about Nutrition53 was the high price. “Individual supplements are inexpensive,” said our Research Editor. “Unfortunately, the company recommends stacking products together, which leads to a higher price tag.”

One dieter said, “The only thing that go lean was my wallet.”

“The shakes contain 15 servings and cost $45. I’ll have to pay $300.00 just to lose a few pounds,” said another user.

On the other hand, some dieters didn’t talk about the cost of the supplements. “Signed up for the VIP program to save a few bucks,” stated a customer.

Unpleasant Taste – “Not Good”

There are numerous consumer complaints about the poor taste of Nutrition53 ingredients. One user commented, “It did not taste good at all and smelled horrible.”

Another stated, “Wasn’t flavorful and it had an after taste.”

We found some customers that had a different take on the taste of Nutrition53 products. “I like the vanilla. It tastes like a milkshake,” commented a customer.

“Mixed the chocolate with almond milk, ice and blended. It hit the spot,” said another.

Our research has shown if there is a certain aspect of a diet supplement that’s concerning, such as offering products that don’t taste good, the likelihood of long-term success is minimal. You may have difficulty reaching your goals if you can’t get past the poor taste of Nutrition53 shakes.

The Science Behind Nutrition53 – “Any Research?”

We did find some information presented on the Nutrition53 website about the benefits of the supplements. What was missing was research connecting ingredients to weight-loss. This is concerning, considering we found solid science backing ones like caffeine and green tea. At DietSpotlight, we prefer to see documented scientific studies used to support claims. If there’s none, we simply cannot get behind the company.

The Bottom Line – Does Nutrition53 Work?

So, will Nutrition53 produce results? Well, we like the use of some natural ingredients and the trusted name. We’re concerned that there’s no research supporting the claims. Also, there’s an issue with this one because of customer reviews mentioning poor taste and high price.

If you need to get rid of serious body fat, then we encourage you to go with a supplement that uses clinically proven ingredients, does not break the bank account and is supported by positive customer feedback.

Among the best products we’ve seen this year is one called Dietspotlight Burn. This diet supplement contains four clinically-tested ingredients, which have been shown to help ignite fat loss and increase metabolism. Furthermore, no one talks about harmful side effects and user comments reveal people see substantial results.

Plus, we think it’s a good sign that the makers of Dietspotlight Burn are so confident in their supplement, that they’re offering a Special Trial Offer.

Nutrition53 - What You Should Know

Nutrition 53 is a company that manufacturers nutritional supplements. The company was founded by former Super Bowl champion Bill Romanowski. Typically you can find other products on the website which include Burn 1, Cleanse 1, Glow 1, Slim 1, Vegan 1 and Protein 1, simply a few of the company's products. The webpage states that as a linebacker who played professional football for so long he gained years of experience and knowledge on how nutritional supplements can help individuals to gain optimal health and performance. His company offers a number of weight loss products like TBI Labs does. The Nutrition 53 product line includes the dietary supplement Lean 1 Healthy Performance Shake, which Romanowski claims will help dieters to lose fat, build lean muscles and protect the heart.Lean 1 is a meal replacement shake that among other things contains the African cactus hoodia gordonii. This particular plant is said to suppress appetite while controlling cravings.

List of Ingredients in Nutrition53 Products

N53 Protein Blend (Milk Protein Isolate, Whey Protein Isolate, L-Leucine, Micellar Casein, L-Glutamine, Taurine, Sodium Caseinate), NON-GMO Cane Juice Solids, Sunflower Oil, Canola Oil, N53 Fruit & Vegetable Blend (Drum Dried Raspberries, Dehydrated Carrot, Drum Dried Cranberries, Drum Dried Watermelon, Drum Dried Pomegranate, Drum Dried Blueberries, Dehydrated Broccoli, Chlorella, Dehydrated Beet, Dehydrated Tomato, Dehydrated Cabbage, Dehydrated Spinach, Dehydrated Parsley, Dehydrated Barley, Green Tea Matcha), maltodextrin Fiber (Fibersol), Corn Syrup Solids, coffee bean extract, soy, grape skin extract, hoodia gordonii, Natural & Artificial Flavors

Product Features

Nutrition 53’s Lean 1 is a meal replacement shake. It has a similar ingredient structure to PGN Nutrition Trimfat. Just as with any other meal replacement shake, dieters are instructed to substitute 2 meals every day with a shake while eating a sensible dinner. By contrast, Nutrim is taken twice daily along with meals. Shakes are made by mixing two scoops of Lean 1 powder with 8 ounces of cold water. Each shake is said to be nutritionally sound.

Advantages of Nutrition53

  • Nutrition 53’s products contain organic fruit and vegetable extracts which are antioxidant rich.
  • There is an optional program for automatic shipments.
  • Hoodia is a well known and popular appetite suppressant.

Disadvantages of Nutrition53

  • Lean 1 contains caffeine which many dieters try to steer away from.
  • Meal replacement diets in general do not teach good eating habits.
  • There is no exercise plan.

Our Conclusion on Nutrition53

The Nutrition 53 Company is a health supplement company that was founded by pro-football player Bill Romanowski. The Lean 1 diet supplement is actually a meal replacement shake that is to be mixed with two scoops of powder in 8 ounces of water. Dieters are instructed to replace both breakfast and lunch with a shake each day and to eat a sensible meal. If that sounds just like any other meal replacement shake, that’s because it is. Even for meal replacements already in liquid form like Muscle Milk warrants the same. There are so many meal replacement shakes on the market and they all have the same claims and the same promised results. The one thing that they do not include is an exercise plan or any long term changes in eating habits or lifestyle changes.

Hi Donna! I feel taking Lean 1 Protein would not hurt your 15 year old. As always, check with your Dr. But having a serving in the morning or after a workout shouldn’t hurt him at all!

I love the Lean1 shakes – have been using them off and on for about 2-years. Chocolate and Cookies-n-Cream in particular. Vanilla is good, but a bit sweet. I’m not a fan of fruit flavored shakes so didn’t even try those. My gym was selling them for a hefty price so I now only buy on the website and when they are on sale, which is pretty frequently. I get tubs for $20, plus nominal shipping and they arrive in 2-3 days. I tried Progenex, several flavors, and those were awful tasting. Wasted my money because I couldn’t even drink them. I just started taking the Burn1 capsule supplements (they were on sale), and so far, they are working well!

Nutrition 53 Lean 1 in particular:
Here we go. If you buy directly from N53 website you can often get 15 serving tubs for 20.00 each. Out of all of the products I have used. N53 Lean 1 is a good product. I weighed 406lbs when I started a little over a month ago, now I at 388. The problem with most people is the ability to stick with something. To blame a product is asinine. Most people diet, instead of change lifestyle. Diet alone is not enough. You need to sit down and think about your life and decide, can I live without that twinkie, cookie, cake whatever your vice is (mine was chocolate). Now as far as cost. Depending on where you buy you will pay up to 37.00 for N53 Lean 1 15 serving tub. Now a good way to help shed pounds and keep the price reasonable is to use 1 scoop instead of 2. I also sometimes use one scoop and a half cup of PLAIN non fat yogurt. I use between 3-5 shakes per day. I eat 4-5 servings of fruit and veggies per day. 1 or 2 meals as well depending on whether I use 3 or 5 shakes per day. Keep meals reasonable. Do not have 3 slices of pizza and cry you are not losing weight. Have one slice with fresh mozzarella and crushed tomato (not everyday either). No shredded cheese and sugar filled canned sauce. There are plenty of recipes for the Lean 1 that are free on the website, so if variety is your thing it is never an issue.

I work at a health food store, we got free samples to try. The Vegan1 chocolate, at first is really quite tasty, then has a weird almost chemical, aftertaste that is not pleasant at all. The Acaiberry was really good and did not have the aftertaste to and neither did the vanilla. I mixed all with almond milk and added fruit, banana to the chocolate and strawberries to the vanilla and acaiberry

N53 has some real food products! They have plenty of flavors to choose from for the protein shakes. I feel, hands down, they are the best shakes on the market! They are thick, even when mixed with water. Other protein powders are like drinking flavored water. Burn 1 combined with Neuro 1 gives you good energy and focus. If your looking to purchase these products at a cheaper price, go to the website where they have items on sale and or you can “bundle” products together for a lower price. I get my tubs of Lean 1 for 20.00. You can also get Neuro 1 for 27 and some change. Orange Cream tastes like an Orange Julious! (For you old school folks). Overall, I enjoy using the products!

I found Lean 1 Chocolate Flavor at Bed Bath & Beyond. What attracted me about this product was the 20g of Protein and totally lactose-free; a big problem for me with just about every protein shake in the market. When I tried it the taste is a bit like most protein shakes but I add a bit of coffee to reduce the sweetness and use ice cubes to create a smoothie consistency. I can definitely feel a difference in the way I feel when a drink this shake vs a conventional breakfast with supplements and other protein shakes. I feel very energized and light and able to hold out until lunch without feeling desperate for solid food. I have tried so many other protein shakes including from major companies such as Herbalife, GNC, etc…and this is the first product that I actually started to lose weight and not feel weird or sickly. I understand that not everyone’s metabolism is the same and each person may react differently to any given weight-loss product or supplement, but Lean 1 works for me and will continue using it until I reach my ideal weight.
