Thrive Mix Review - 7 Things You Need to Know

Living a healthy lifestyle is important to many people, and Thrive Mix claims to be an integral part of that. Apparently, this product allows you to “live more, be more, experience more, and THRIVE for more.” However, we’re not sure these general claims can apply to everyone, as ingredients like Garcinia Cambogia and oat fiber have not been proven to aid in weight loss.

The potential side effects, ultra-premium mixes, and probiotics in Thrive Mix were also considered when determining its effectiveness. To reach the bottom line, our research team compared their “nutrient-dense formula” and health blends to the product’s claimed benefits to see if this supplement can improve your health.

Thrive Mix can be purchased through their Official Site.

What is Thrive Mix?

I start by saying that Thrive Mix is a protein shake. That said, many questions are swirling around the diet community as to whether or not this is a meal replacement shake, like Shakeology and HMR Shakes. Well, to be honest here, I’m not sure – but it appears to be. The official website doesn’t include any instructions for using the product – only that you’re supposed to use it with other Thrive products.

Even the information provided on the product-specific pdf brochure doesn’t say just what the product is supposed to do. The one thing the official website does provide is an image of the product’s nutritional label, so we can tell you the Le-Vel Thrive Mix ingredients, which is a good starting point here. They are divided into two categories, the Proprietary Blend and Other Ingredients. The ingredients vary a little for each flavor, but some of the more common main ingredients include:

  • Oat fiber
  • Garcinia fruit extract
  • Natural Caffeine from Black Tea
  • Lactobacillus Acidophilus
  • Protease 5000
  • Lipase 1000
  • Protease 1000
  • Ginger root
  • Cardamom seed extract
  • Cinnamon bark extract

We immediately went to the medical journals to see what research was out there on some of the Thrive Mix ingredients like oat fiber, garcinia fruit and natural caffeine, to be exact. What did we find?

  • Lipids in Health and Disease – Let’s start with oat fiber. “Daily consumption of 3 g of soluble fiber from 70 g of oats leads to beneficial effects on the lipid parameters, specifically total cholesterol and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol.”
  • BMC Complementary and Alternative Medicine – We didn’t find research into garcinia and oat fiber, but we did on garcinia and konjac fiber. Based on that research, the combination of garcinia and fiber can “reduce weight and improve lipid… profiles in people with overweight or obesity…”
  • Critical Reviews in Food Science and Nutrition – Then there’s the world’s most used drug – caffeine. What does science say about caffeine and weight loss? Simply put, a review of all research up until November 2017 showed “caffeine intake might promote weight, BMI and body fat reduction.”

There are ten flavors to choose from:

  • Vanilla
  • Chocolate
  • Strawberry
  • Apple Pie
  • Salted Caramel
  • Fudge Brownie
  • Vegan Vanilla
  • Snickerdoodle
  • Vegan Chocolate
  • Vegan Strawberry

What Company is Behind Thrive Mix?

Thrive Mix is part of a product line created by a company called Le-Vel. Le-Vel has been in business for five years and was founded by two guys, Jason Camper and Paul Gravette. The website says they have a combined experience of 41 years in the health & wellness industry but doesn’t mention exactly that experience.

Le-Vel has an A+ rating from the BBB and has been accredited by the bureau since 2018. Although the BBB put an alert on their profile for a pattern of customer complaints, the company reached out to the bureau to inform them of updated policies and procedures to decrease these complaints. The average of 75 customer reviews on the BBB site is 2.52/5 stars. They’ve also dealt with more than 129 customer complaints in the last three years.

Le-Vel bills itself as a “premium lifestyle” company and its philosophy is all about building a brand. They do say that their products are of good quality, but there seems to be more emphasis on the brand and the “premium lifestyle” than on the benefits of the products they sell – or anything else. Other products by Le-Vel include Thirst, Spt Heat, Spt Chill, Tac Dft, Activate, Biotic, Treat Meal, Dft:recharge, Sculpt, Blast, and Thrive Bites.

Le-Vel MLM Sales Plan

Le-Vel uses Brand Promoters for marketing their products. These Brand Promoters are required to sell products and recruit new Promoters to earn rewards. Promoters must sell $100 worth of merchandise every month to remain active in the program.

Brand Promoters can choose a Starter, Promoter, or VIP enrollment package. Le-Vel does not disclose the price of these packages.

Here is a breakdown of the Le-Vel compensation plan.

Promoters can receive as much as 20% of the BV of every order at the retail level. The BV is the Business Value and is much lower than the actual cost of the product sold.

If two customers sign up for auto-ship, the Promoter receives one free product.

Infinity Fast Start is a bonus for Promoters who start selling immediately upon enrollment. It’s designed to help Promoters earn more money per sale. An extra upfront fee may be required.

Infinity Match

Infinity Fast Start Match gives Brand Promoters a 10% commission when a Promoter they recruited earns an Infinity Fast Start commission.

To earn VIP status, Brand Promoters need to have two customers enroll in the auto-ship program, and they also have to recruit two new Promoters within 14 days of signing up for Le-Vel’s Brand Promoter program. VIP status comes with a cash bonus, Le-Vel credits, and Infinity Fast Start bonus.

Thrive Mix Ingredients

Oat fiber is the first ingredient listed, so that’s where I dove in. Oat fiber, as the name suggests, is a good source of fiber. According to Nutrition Reviews, 30 grams of fiber each day could help you lose more weight.

Specifically, oat fiber can improve blood cholesterol and heart health, according to the Journal of Nutrition and Scientific Reports

The second ingredient listed is a garcinia fruit extract. According to Critical Reviews in Food Science and Nutrition, garcinia fruit, or Garcinia Cambogia, is a tropical fruit that may reduce appetite and help the body to burn fat because of a substance called hydroxycitric acid (HCA) that is found in the rind of the fruit. According to the Mayo Clinic, you’re very unlikely to see any significant, permanent loss of weight from caffeine.

Another ingredient – cardamom – has been shown to have many health benefits, including reduced inflammation, per the Journal of Diabetes & Metabolic Disorders and the Dental Research Journal.

Side Effects

Le-Vel Thrive Mix Side Effects

The official website doesn’t list any of these potential side effects, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t any. With such a long list of ingredients, surely some of them must adversely affect some people.

For example, Garcinia Cambogia can cause side effects like:

  • Nausea
  • Headache
  • Digestive discomfort

And oat fiber can deliver:

  • Gas
  • Bloating

Thrive Mix Benefits

Honestly, it doesn’t seem like LeVel is sure what the benefits of Thrive Mix are. They do talk vaguely about a “premium you,” whatever that means. They also list “weight management or fitness” and “lean muscle support” on their website, but there isn’t any information about how the product is supposed to accomplish this.

What Are Le-Vel Thrive Mix Users Saying?

Do you know someone who has tried Thrive Mix? If you do, you’re in luck! Ask them what they think because there are so few consumer comments that we can’t reliably examine what any real customers have to say.

The product seems to be sold mainly through the official website, and there are no user comments available there outside of the customer testimonials used in their marketing materials.

There are comments, both positive and negative, on the Better Business Bureau concerning Le-Vel, but nothing specific to the Thrive shake mix.

Bottom Line

The Bottom Line on Thrive Mix

My final thoughts are that Thrive Mix does contain several natural ingredients – which is always a good thing. There is some evidence that you could experience a slight weight-loss from the fiber content of the product. But there are some glaring issues I can’t seem to shake:

  • There is a real lack of user feedback on the product
  • I’m not entirely sure what the product is supposed to do for users, but research suggests a significant and permanent weight-loss isn’t likely based on the ingredients
  • Le-Vel seems more concerned about selling an image than a good weight-loss product

It can be extremely difficult to pick up on a new weight-loss program and stick with it for the long-term without feeling as though you’re walking alone. With new technologies and weight-loss programs, you no longer have to take on the fight without support.

One of the best weight-loss programs we’ve reviewed this year is one called Noom. What’s amazing about Noom is that it’s clinically proven – not something you find in the weight-loss market every day. Plus, it’s nice that you get perks that other apps forget, like human coaching, personalized menus, exercise tracking, and much more.

Noom is effective, hands down, so the company is offering Dietspotlight readers a free trial offer to show just how the app can help you reach your goals.

  • HORRIBLE Product
    Janet D (Verified Purchase)

I decided to try the 3 step program based on what I thought were honest reviews. A facebook “friend” offered a free 3 day trial supply. 2 hours after I took the first pill (I only took one of the 2), drank the gritty shake, and applied the patch I quickly threw this product in the trash. I felt extremely lightheaded, decreased energy (exactly the opposite of what it claims), heart racing, diarrhea and increased urination. The site where the patch was started to itch. I do have an allergy to adhesive, which I told her in the beginning and she said her other “friends” had sensitivity as well but that they didn’t with this. It’s still 8 hours later and I am still having side effects and I just want this out of my body. Please be careful if you try this product but I would not recommend it AT ALL.

  • Helen

Great review, but you only list and talk about the medicinal ingredients, what about the “other ingredients”? Those are more of a concern to me? Are they ok? Thanks so much!

    • Montana (Editor)

Hello Helen. The other ingredients listed on the product label include maltodextrin, protein blend (Soy, Pea, Whey concentrate), cellulose, sunflower oil, natural flavors, xanthan gum, sucralose, and stevia leaf extract. Most of these ingredients are “filler” compounds, but this protein blend adds in 15 grams of protein. The maltodextrin also brings the sugar content to 2 grams. Overall, these ingredients are not anything to worry about.

Can I just use the thrive shake and patch. I have issues taking pills

    • Montana (Editor)

You do not have to take these pills in order to experience the benefits of Thrive, according to the manufacturers.

  • Love the Thrive Powder Mix
    Nancy (Verified Purchase)

I’ve been using the Thrive Chocolate Powder Mix, with a banana, ice and milk; using my Nutra Ninja. I love the taste. But, the best thing is that it has definitely helped with my IBS.

I have been on Thrive for about 1 year and ABSOLUTELY love it. I have lost 45lbs. and have LOTS of ENERGY

  • Allergic Reaction

Does anyone know someone who has had a allergic reaction to the shakes? My moms face became really swollen after consuming a shake.

    • Montana (Editor)

Hello Tiffany! According to the product label, Thrive Mix contains milk and soy, which are common allergens. We suggest discontinuing use and consulting with your physician to see if this product is the right choice for your mother.

  • Personal thriver
    Erika Veltkamp (Verified Purchase)

Personally a Thriver. The instructions are on the packaging when you order and you’re usually beginning the experience because of someone you know. That being said, your friend will guide you through the very simple 3 step daily process as well as check to see how your experience is going. For example I didn’t start feeling the affects regarding better sleep until week 5. It’s been really amazing for my husband and I for 3+ years now. I do know that probiotics can make you nauseas and the shake has a lot! So some people take only half 4x per week. Great clan energy, better mood and motivation, less desire for sweets and or coffee etc. appetite suppression, better sleep… etc. so many good things have come from adding this to our lives.

  • Stick with it for results. It takes time.
    Kasey Standridge (Verified Purchase)

I have been using Thrive for about 6 weeks. These are the things I noticed. I have way more energy, and my appetite is suppressed. It took me about a month to get past gas it caused. I learned that If I drink it later in the morning, not 30 minutes after the capsules, I feel much better. Less gas. I use grass-fed whole milk and that has made it so much better. I was using water then 2% milk but it was not working as well for me. As with any nutrition change, it takes a little time for your body to adjust. Everyone is different, but Thrive definitely works for me and makes me feel a lot better.

  • Thrive Shake made me vomit!
    Carrie McGrann (Verified Purchase)

I have tried the Thrive shakes 3x and each time I was left feeling nauseous and had a bad headache. I’m an athlete and active runner. I eat clean and wanted to try the shakes. I’ve never had this problem with 310 Shake or Shakeology. I had to vomit all three times that I took the Thrive Shake in order to get it out of my stomach and to feel better. Thrive is a no-go for me. Never again.

  • Shake

Can u use just the pills and patch?

  • My Thrive experience & why I stopped
    Sylvia (Verified Purchase)

I’m not a Thrive user anymore but it was my first love & totally changed my life. I need to correct the price you posted as it is wrong. On auto ship which can easily be cancelled the shake is $40-44 depending on the flavor. If you take it correctly & use all 3 products you will love it. I didn’t get sick the 3yrs I used it among other things but after going through an extremely stressful time in my life it didn’t give me the energy anymore that it did in the past. Also I didn’t lose weight on it even though I needed to. Otherwise, my headaches stopped, achiness went away, allergies were gone, I had energy & was waking up around 4:30/5am easily & refreshed. No more anxiety or depression! However weight loss & energy are important to me as well. And my experience was great until it didn’t work like it used to & I really tried to make it work again.

    • Jennifer

I just got my first months and this is what im worried about. How long would you say the good effects lasted?

      • Terri Mauro

I have been on thrive for at least 3 years or more I look forward to my shake every morning it gives me so much energy to get my day going! I love it

  • Shake caused Anxiety
    Miranda (Verified Purchase)

The thrive shake mix left me disoriented, dizzy and nauseous!!! My anxiety level topped out and my heart was racing 120 beats per minute! I felt awful for over 6 hours. I know it was the shake because the day before i took the 2 pills. This day i took 1 pill and the shake. I didn’t even try the patch. I then got a headache after the other symptoms settled.

    • MG

Hi there – I think the capsule(s) may be the cause of those side effects (or the combination of the capsule(s) and the shake). What they don’t openly tell you is that although the capsules don’t contain very much caffeine, they contain a number of stimulants which raises heart rate and blood pressure. One of them being Citrus Aurantium (otherwise known as Synephrine).

  • Plenty of reviews on YouTube

Just wait. My gf is on the whole program – patches, capsules, and shakes. She was good for the first few weeks. Then CRASH. She comes homes and falls asleep within an hour now. And I sometimes have trouble waking her up. Her body is used the the product now and it basically does nothing for energy now. Stop wasting your $$$. Eat right and get moving.

      • Kimberly

I have used Thrive for 3 yrs now. Never had a crash, never. I continued losing it last year along with a lower carb diet and lost 86 lbs. I simply love it! I sleep much better and often awake before the alarm ready for my day!
