Celsius Review - 12 Things You Need to Know
Celsius is a weight-loss drink containing a thermogenic, proprietary blend of ingredients. The company posits that its product is clinically proven to function well by accelerating metabolism, but no proof is offered. Some ingredients show promise, but we weren’t able to nail down the evidence on the product as a whole.
On top of this, our research team was apprehensive given the high caffeine content of the product, which can have a negative impact on those sensitive to it. Our team compiled all information needed to provide you with the foundation to support your own opinion about Celsius.
Celsius can be purchased through their Official Site.

Celsius Ingredients
Celsius drink ingredients include:
Green Tea
Green tea is produced from the Camellia sinensis plant. It is prepared through steaming instead of fermentation, so it is considered healthier than black and oolong tea.
Research shows that green tea may be quite beneficial for weight loss. According to Advances in Nutrition, green tea extract, which is high in catechins, can reduce body weight and cholesterol levels.
Guarana
According to the Nutrients, “…our data showed that guarana leads to an increase in energetic metabolism and stimulates mitochondrial biogenesis, contributing to control of weight gain, even when associated with high-fat diet.”
Ginger Root
The European Journal of Nutrition concluded, “our findings demonstrate a minor beneficial effect of 2g ginger powder supplementation for 12 weeks on weight loss and some metabolic features of obesity.”
Chromium
Chromium is an essential trace mineral found in various foods and supplements. According to the National Institutes of Health, chromium is “directly involved in carbohydrate, fat, and protein metabolism.”
Taurine
According to the Journal of Strength and Conditioning Research, “caffeine and taurine supplement had a likely large effect on HR.”
Caffeine
According to the claims, Celsius drink caffeine promotes weight loss via thermogenesis and fat oxidation.
Celsius Side Effects
While there are no reports of Celsius side effects, there’s a chance some may notice side effects from Celsius ingredients.
- Jitters
- Headache
- Nausea
- Upset stomach
- Sleep issues
The side effects could potentially be due to the caffeine content in Celsius. Each can of Celsius contains 200 mg of caffeine.
Celsius Benefits
Celsius benefits may include:
- Accelerate metabolism
- Increased energy
- Fat burning
- Boost endurance
According to the Journal of the International Society of Sports Nutrition, “Pre-workout consumption of Celsius enhances the benefits of chronic exercise on body composition and cardiorespiratory fitness.”

- The Vitamin Shoppe
- Kroger
- Target

- All Pro Nutrition
There is a Celsius drink Costco selection as well for individuals who want to purchase the drink in large amounts.
Celsius Cost
Through Amazon, Celsius usually costs between $20-35 for a 12-pack of drinks. However, there are many different price variations based on the types of drinks chosen and the amount of Celsius drink stock purchased.
Celsius drink packets are also available online for an average of $12. The price of Celsius varies by location.
Celsius Refund Policy
Celsius offers a 100% money-back guarantee for items that are returned after 60 days. However, some websites have a 15-day guarantee, since Celsius products are liquid-based.
Celsius and Weight Loss
Each can of Celsius is supposed to help you burn at least 100 calories. It does contain stimulants such as caffeine, green tea, and taurine. The caffeine in the drink is at 200 milligrams. This stimulant has been shown to boost thermogenesis and fat oxidation.
According to the Journal of the International Society of Sports Nutrition stated caffeine in combination with exercise is even more effective for weight loss. If you add regular exercise to your routine, you may notice results from drinking Celsius.
Celsius Energy Drink Alternatives
Some other weight loss and energy drinks out there are similar or comparable to Celsius canned drinks.
Here are a few of them:
- Monster Energy
- Red Bull
- Rockstar
- Mountain Dew KickStart
- IdealBoost
- Hydroxycut Drink Mix
- Slimquick Pure
Note that these products do not contain the same ingredient formula as the drink. But they do offer many of the same benefits, according to a few of the Celcius drink review comments.
What Users Are Saying
“It works as intended and tastes great, just be aware that it has 240mg of caffeine per serving (i.e. 3 espresso coffees).”
“I like how this version has less caffeine. The full 200mg that comes in the regular Celsius is too much for me but this is the right amount. I was already pretty much exclusively drinking Celsius prior to working out so the BCAAs this version contains is a nice added bonus. This flavor isn’t my favorite but it’s not bad so I do get it once and a while for variety. I do wish it were a bit cheaper, too.”
“It has a great taste. It helps me to concentrate when I have an activity, or a test to study for. I take one every day. I do not feel drowsy, or tired after taking this product. Definitely recommend this product.”
The Bottom Line on Does Celsius
Celsius can be a beneficial addition to the fitness regimen of health-conscious individuals, offering a boost of energy with natural ingredients. However, consumers should approach with caution, considering the lack of FDA approval and past controversies. The drink should not be viewed as a standalone solution for weight loss or enhanced physical performance but can be incorporated as a supplemental aid alongside a balanced diet and regular exercise.
We know how important it is to have a healthy lifestyle and how to maintain a healthy weight. Although it seems like making these changes can be hard, they don’t have to be with the right clinically-proven system.
We’ve dissected more weight-loss plans and products than we can count and few have any verifiable research, but there are some that stand out. One of the best weight-loss programs we’ve found is Noom. The research was what first impressed us, but once we dug deeper we realized the personal experiences of people who never thought they would lose weight, but finally did, is what sealed the deal.
We’ve partnered with Noom, for a limited time, to offer all Dietspotlight readers a free trial offer of the weight-loss app. Jump in and test it out, you have nothing to lose but weight!

Wife who is 120 lbs drank one of the Celcius 100 cans last night (she’s a frequent coffee drinher – works as an ICU Nurse) and an hour later we were at the local Emergency Dept. with her hooked to a heart monitor with a rate in the 160’s and BP in the 160/90 range and a ER Doc talking about admitting her to Cardiac ICU for caffine overdose and pushing IV meds. After 4 hours of meds and IV Fluids she was OK to release and she’s off work yet today feeling rotten. DOc says avoid this stuff he’s seen 3-4 people in the last 2 montrhs with similar symptoms. We both know this Doc (we both work Emergency med – I’m an EMT) and he’s straight up and knows his stuff – if he says its bad, its BAD.
Save yourself a really rotten experience and take your dog for a jog or take a walk.
Are you a doctor, Wowd? Did you perform tests and evaluate the person in question?
I was just at the emergency room getting an EKG last night. It was my first and last can, it really freaked me out.
may i ask how much all of you weigh?? being that u all had caffeine overdoses and apparently it supposed to only have caffeine from the green tea.. sorry trying to decide if i should try this. i have a friend whos on this and she lost weight n looks good.. do you think yall had od’s because of your weight?
you are wrong. the same thing happened to me after drinking this drink. your’re lucky that your body didnt react to it like that man’s wife or mine. it was very scary and its not a joke.
if she drinks coffee , then its not the caffeine. One 16oz cup of coffee will have the same amnt of caffeine as 1 can of Celsius.
I too had a very bad reaction to this – YES very scary & NO JOKE!!!!
Cindy
The can says right on it that there is no aspartame… I was told that they use Splenda instead of sugar.
The can does say no ASPARTAME
Splenda IS Aspartame. Sucrolose as well.
Splenda is just sucrolose, no aspartame- aspartame is the ingredient in nutra sweet- it is a chemically formulated sweetner. Splenda is manipulated sugar.
Splenda is every bit as bad for you as aspartame. Splenda is sucralose, and Nutrasweet is aspartame.

Halo (Verified Purchase)
I bought 3 (4) packs today of Celsius. I have to find my receipt. I only had one drink it was the Cola flavored at around 2PM and it did not agree with me. It is not 11PM and I was experiencing shortness of breath. I feel really wound up but what bothers me is the shortness of breath. Since its been 9 hrs. hopefully this wears off soon.
Actually, I tried peach mango w/ green tea. The taste could definitely be improved but it DOES NOT contain aspartame. The sweetener in this drink is sucralose, ex. Splenda. This is a bit healthier than aspartame! Although the taste is pretty crappy because of the aftertaste, I drink it because of only 1g carb., no sugar, added B vitamins and other nutritional benefits. So, if you’re wanting a healthier drink with a little boost, you should try it. If you are sensitive to caffeine or do not consume caffeine regularly, you may experience “jitters.”
I initially tried it because i got a sweet deal with coupons and basically getting it for the cost of tax. I didn’t expect much but was pleasantly surprised that it only has 1g carb and no sugar. Being on a reduced carb diet this drink fit right in. I drank it after pulling an all nighter working till 3am and returning to work at 6am for a meeting..it got me through the meeting and on into my day. There was no crash and I felt energized and had mental clarity. I am not a coffee drinker so my ‘normal’ level of caffeine in take in pretty low, but I actually like the drink. I will probably try drinking 1-2 per day. So far it is ok with me.

I love celsius! I like the mango tea one. It’s a great energy drink basically and doesn’t taste like sh!t. I hate the flavor of red bull & the others are full of sugar. Aspartame is def the downside though… But oh well I love it!
For Real (Verified Purchase)
No matter how many new products they come out with there is only one sure way to lose weight and get fit and it’s not easy. You have to eat the right healthy foods and exercise. Every product out there will not work with out watching what you eat and exercising so save your money you don’t need fancy products.
Chaz (Verified Purchase)
I LOVE the “Cola” flavor…I think it tastes just like Diet Coke, which I love and used to drink several cans a day of. I’m not really on a diet / don’t feel I need to lose any weight, but for me, drinking Celsius is more about cutting out / substituting all the soda I normally drink and replacing it with something healthier. It’s been great so far…I haven’t had a DC in weeks!!
Courtney (Verified Purchase)
it’s 4AM i can’t sleep…
Probably because it’s an energy drink
Elly
My Celsius says “no Aspartame”.
Janine (Verified Purchase)
It’s awesome! It’s healthy, gave me energy and tastes great plus it is only ten calories so if u are trying to lose weight u can replace your high calorie juices and sodas with these! They even have cola flavor that tastes like coke! LOve it!
mark (Verified Purchase)
idk about all that i drink one can every day for a about a week and a half now ive seen weight lost even when i work at a desk all day and on top of that i used to never be able to wake up early now i cant sleep past 9:00am and feel great all day and my father is in construction and works 12 hours every day and keeps him going all day
so i say the stuff does work atleast for me
Jeff (Verified Purchase)
I love Celsius. It’s the best drink on the market. I guess thats why its won so many awards. Have lost 20 lbs. and kept it off. Great energy and no crash. Great flavors too.
Seagull (Verified Purchase)
This product doesn’t work. The product info even tells you that you must diet and exercise. The so-called benefit is only 100 calories per can which would require 35 cans to produce one pound of fat lost. Bogus product using caffeine to stimulate you. It is mildly addictive, so take a pass on Celsius.
well duh, you can’t sit on ur a$% and eat pizza and lose weight. But it boosts your metabolism from all the healthy ingredients which will make u burn more calories and since it is natural I don’t see how it could be addictive.
This did nothing to disprove Janine’s point.
?
What I got from the article was to buy Green Tea Bags, drink two cups per day and drink two to three cups per day of milk (skim is best). And exercise moderately five days per week. You will get the same results with out the side effects.
Slap clap
if your dieting Almond milk is healthier? Skim milk still has 12g of carbs and 13g sugar, Almond milk has 1 g carbs and no sugar
That’s rich. All natural doesn’t mean anything. Feces is natural… do you want to ingest it?
Also, “all natural” is actually vague and there is nothing regulating the term and ensuring that it is in fact all natural.
If it is all natural, it does not mean that it isn’t addictive. Opiates are all natural but also addictive. You can also be addicted to caffeine itself.
This product does work, I have taken it with exercise for about six months and have lost 70 pounds in one year. Of course a lot of exercise, and drink plenty of water and healthy food no fried foods and limit the sweets. I used to be 225 i went down to 147. Fifteen minutes after you drink celsius the energy kicks in I love to walk and I couldn’t stop until the energy died off. I got home and felt like cleaning, so even once the exersice stops you still are going no crashing! Celsius is some good stuff.
Amanda Brown (Verified Purchase)
I like celsius,it really works and it does’t give you jitters or crash.

Does anyone know if this is available in Canada and where it can be found?

I asked about the caffine and it is only the natural caffine found in the green tea in the product (not much in other words).
It also contains Guarana extract and Caffeine anhydrous. 200 mg of caffeine per can.
Pat Witt
How much caffein is in each can? The literature printed on this product is very vague.
Thank you.
Hello Pat. There is 200mg per can.
NO ASPARTAME….besides it’s really the first 4 ingredients that are the most important to watch out for.
The equivalent to two 8 oz. cups of coffee in each drink, according to the info. page linked to on the Costco site.

so far i liked the produc… it really works… and there isnt any crash/burn symptons.. which is great.. love it..
I consumed 1 can about 6:30 this a.m. and was napping by 11:00. BUT I started feeling VERY entergetic about 7:00 this evening. Weird….
Same!
I like it too, the guy below has no idea what he is talking about. I drank my first can before going to bed tonight just to see what it tasted like. I loved the raspberry one, drank it all, at 6am, I am still awake.. Def a morning drink and not an afternoon drink for me.. I’m wide awake….
